The research in the Division of Dental Technology
The research carried out to date, concerns the research interests of the Department’s educational staff and takes place either individually or in collaboration with other Faculty members, which may belong to the University of West Attica (UniWA)or to other universities. The research may also take place in the context of research project proposals that were occasionally submitted to the former TEI of Athens and now UniWA. In the same context, research works are included which carried out during the preparation of the postgraduate programs of the Division of Dental Technology Sector. These postgraduate researches are carried out either in the Division or in collaboration with research laboratories of UniWA and the University of Athens (Laboratory of Biomaterials of the Dental Department).
Recently, a special Research Committee of the Division of Dental Technology of the Department of Biomedical Sciences was established to draft the research policy of the Division. In any case, of course, it is not enough just to set up and operate this Committee to strengthen the conduct of research in the Division, but the personal disposition of each teacher to carry out a research project is also considered a decisive factor. The research project proposals if they are funded by the UniWA submitted to the Department of Biomedical Sciences and follow the procedure imposed by the specific program. Through this process the implementation of the specific research is also monitored. If the research project proposal is self-financed (i.e. supported by the Department and by the teachers participating in the research), progress reports of the research project are submitted to the Research Committee of UniWA, until the full implementation of the research.
The publication of the results of the research proposals that are finally implemented is done by the teachers who have submitted the proposals and may take the form of publication in a scientific journal of recognized prestige or the form of an announcement at a scientific conference.
Below are indicatively listed some of the most recent research papers (it is possible to browse by selecting the title of the paper) in which faculty members of the Dental Technology Department participated and were published in reputable scientific journals abroad.
